Medolyn Shelties is located on eight acres in Northern Virginia, just west of Washington, D.C. We are a small hobby breeder and exhibit in AKC conformation and agility. My husband, three daughters and I share a keen interest and love of the dogs. The Shelties are very special to us and a big part of our family.

My first Sheltie, “Pepper” was my childhood constant companion. Although not show quality, she exhibited true Sheltie temperament. Her intelligence, loyalty and desire to please kindled a life-long love of Shelties. It is rewarding now to see that same spark and enjoyment in my daughters as they work with the dogs and get their faces smeared with puppy kisses. Puppies especially benefit from the daily one-on-one attention from the children, and of course the kids have fun, too! We take pride in the intelligent, well-rounded temperaments produced here.

A good friend and mentor, Michelle Brouse of Alibi Shetland Sheepdogs, has patiently shared her knowledge gained from her 30+ years of experience in the breed. I will always be grateful for her faith and generosity. Michelle has bred and owned many beautiful examples of the breed of which I am proud to say many are represented in my foundation. I continue to work closely with Michelle and the present dogs of Alibi.

The Medolyn Shelties are housed in our home and enjoy their days romping in the fresh air and chasing squirrels in a large fenced dog-yard or running the agility course. In keeping with the standard, we strive to produce Shelties of correct type with sound minds and bodies that can be enjoyed anywhere, whether in the backyard or the show ring. Because we breed only 1-2 litters yearly, each breeding is carefully planned and well-thought out. We strive to keep our numbers down, so we can insure all the dogs get the individual attention needed for maintaining happy, outgoing temperaments. We carefully select for type, soundness, health and temperament. In addition we perform medical and genetic testing on all dogs used for breeding. We give a full-written health guarantee with all puppies and dogs we sell and also provide life-time breeder support.
